A study for quality evaluation of Taxilli Herba from different hosts based on fingerprint-activity relationship modeling and multivariate statistical analysis

In this study, a fingerprint-activity relationship modeling between chemical fingerprints and antirheumatic activity was established, and multivariate statistical analysis was used to evaluate the quality of Taxilli Herba (TH) from different hosts. Characteristic fingerprints of 20 batches of TH samples were generated by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole-time of flight tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-Triple TOF-MS/MS), and the similarity analysis was calculated based on thirteen common characteristic peaks by hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA). Subsequently, nine efficacy markers were discovered by combining fingerprints and antirheumatic activity through grey correlation analysis (GCA) and bivariate correlation analysis (BCA). Meanwhile, the content of 5 constituents in 9 markers was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole-linear ion trap tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-QTRAP-MS/MS). The comprehensive quality of TH was assessed using multivariate statistical analysis, including principal components analysis (PCA) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). The results showed that a high dose of TH extract could markedly ameliorate arthritis damage compared to other doses, with flavonoids playing an important role in the antirheumatic activity. The comprehensive quality of samples from Morus alba L. (SS) was superior to those from Liquidambar formosana Hance (FXS). The present study will demonstrate the markers associated with efficacy, and provide an applicable strategy for more comprehensive quality control and evaluation of TH.     

Application of high resolution ICP-spectrometry to the determination of B,Be, Co,Mo and Sn in soils and similar matrices

The most sensitive emission lines for the elements B, Be, Co and Mo are strongly influenced by disturbing emission lines of Fe using normal optical resolution. The advantages of high resolution, applying the new ICP-spectrometer JY 38 Plus (Jobin-Yvon, France) with the 2400 lines/mm grating measuring in the 1st and 2nd order will be discussed. Beside the concentrations in soils, sediments and sludges, applying aqua regia and HF decomposition methods, the detection limits in these matrices will be given. The possibilities of ICP-spectrometry for the determination of the above-mentioned elements are shown at the examples of SRMs (standard reference materials). The materials used here were three soils and three sludges from the BCR (Community Bureau of Reference, European Communities) and one sediment from NBS (National Bureau of Standards, USA). For example, the most sensitive and normally used line for the determination of boron at 249.7733 nm cannot be used in case of this type of matrix due to normally high Fe-concentrations and due to a strong Fe-interference. Therefore, it is necessary to use the line at 249.6778 nm, where an interference-free measurement can be achieved in case of high optical resolution. The measured B-contents in these samples are in the range of 20 to 60 g/g, for Co in the 10 g/g region, for Be well below 1 g/g, for Sn between 3 and 400 g/g. Quantitative HPTLC determination of prostaglandin E1

Direct in situ determination of PGE₁ in dioxane/water (1:1) at concentrations between 50 μg/ml and 1 mg/ml is described. HPTLC of PGE₁ was carried out on HPTLC Kieselgel 60 o.F. plates; application (200 nl) was with a Nano-Appllcator and ethyl acetate/formic acid (400:5, v/v) served as mobile phase. The spots were located by dipping the plates into a 3% cupric acetate solution in 15% aqueous phosphoric acid, followed by heating at 120°C for 15 min. The plates were then evaluated directly at λ = 345 nm by chromatogram spectrometry. The coefficient of variation is 3.6%.

Wave chaos in quantum systems with point interaction

We study perturbations of the quantized version ₀ of integrable Hamiltonian systems by point interactions. We relate the eigenvalues of to the zeros of a certain meromorphic function . Assuming the eigenvalues of ₀ are Poisson distributed, we get detailed information on the joint distribution of the zeros of and give bounds on the probability density for the spacings of eigenvalues of . Our results confirm the wave chaos phenomenon, as different from the quantum chaos phenomenon predicted by random matrix theory.SFB 237 Essen-Bochum-Düsseldorf     

Metastable systems driven by colored noise: The stationary state

The influence of the Bardeen-Herring back-jump correlations on the Fermi-Dirac statistics of the one-dimensional nonhomogeneous fermionic lattice gas is studied by the Monte Carlo simulation technique and semianalytically. The resulting distribution is obtained, exhibiting increased population of the lower levels in comparison to the Fermi-Dirac statistics.     

Singular perturbed Markov chains and exact behaviors of simulated annealing processes

We study asymptotic properties of discrete and continuous time generalized simulated annealing processesX(·) by considering a class of singular perturbed Markov chains which are closely related to the large deviation of perturbed diffusion processes. Convergence ofX(t) in probability to a setS ₀ of desired states, e.g., the set of global minima, and in distribution to a probability concentrated onS ₀ are studied. The corresponding two critical constants denoted byd and withd are given explicitly. When the cooling schedule is of the formc/logt, X(t) converges weakly forc>0. Whether the weak limit depends onX(0) or concentrates onS ₀ is determined by the relation betweenc, d, and . Whenc>, the expression for the rate of convergence for each state is also derived.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of 4-{[（1E）1- （2-Hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl）methylidene]amino}- 1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-one

The title Schiff base compound,C19H19N3O3,a derivative of antipyrine,has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis,IR,and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.The crystal belongs to the monoclinic system,space group C2/c,with α = 27.935(5),b = 7.553(1),c =16.692(3) (A),β = 105.810(3)°,Z= 8,V= 3388.7(10) (A)3,Dc = 1.323 g/cm3,Mr = 337.37,λ(MoKα) =0.71073 (A),μ = 0.091 mm-1,F(000) = 1424,R = 0.0630 and wR = 0.1273.A total of 3513 unique reflections were collected,of which 2112 with I ＞ 2σ(I) were observed.The molecular structure adopts a trans configuration about the C=N double bond.The pyrazoline and C(1)～C(6) pheny1 ring are approximately coplanar (mean deviation from the combined plane is 0.069(3) (A)),with the dihedral angle of 9.7(2)°.The preliminary biological tests show that the compound has high antibacterial activities.     

Simultaneous Determination of Copper and Bismuth by Anodic Stripping Voltammetry Using H‐Point Standard Addition Method with Simultaneous Addition of Analytes

Simultaneous determination of bismuth and copper by anodic stripping voltammetry using H‐point standard addition method (HPSAM) with simultaneous addition of analytes is described. The effect of various parameters including acid concentration, accumulation time, accumulation potential and concentration ratio of analytes in the standard solution on the sensitivity and accuracy of method were investigated. The results of applying the H‐point standard addition method showed that Cu²⁺ and Bi³⁺ could be determined simultaneously with the concentration ratios of Cu²⁺ to Bi³⁺ varying from 1 : 15 to 16 : 1 in the mixed sample. The method was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of copper and bismuth in some synthetic mixtures.     

Comparative study on the determination of cephalexin in its dosage forms by spectrophotometry and HPLC with UV-vis detection

This paper discusses the spectrophotometric determination of cephalexin as the intact cephalexin or as its acid-induced degradation product. Cephalexin can be determined in the range 1 × 10^–5–18 × 10^–5 M with relative standard deviations of 5-1%. The limits of quantitation and detection were 10^–5 and 0.3 × 10^–5 M, respectively. These procedures were compared with reversed-phase HPLC determination. No interference was observed in the presence of common pharmaceutical adjuvants. The H-point standard additions method was applied in order to correct for the possible presence of the cephalexin precursor, 7-aminocephalosporanic acid; this improves the selectivity of the UV-vis spectrophotometric method.
